I agree with this essay. BDS is a big show that has in material terms done worse to the people living in the West Bank and Gaza then anyone in Israel. However no one should call the grapefruit guy a “reporter”. Davide Mastracci is a fanatic ideologue whose writing is as antisemetic as it gets. Calling him any kind of journalist is legitimizing the fake news he generates. At one point he “reported” on himself making made-up claims of anti Jewish attacks so he could report them to Jewish institutions. This he claimed was evidence that much antisemetism in Canada was made up to pad the numbers. Don't ever legitimize him. He is not a journalist or writer he is a political operative.
Thanks for putting this in perspective. The fact that these activists had to lower the voting threshold to pass the boycott resolution tells you everything you need to know. The fact that Palestinians will suffer as a result of the boycott seems consistent with antizionists' general willingness to sacrifice those they purport to help (without their consent) for the greater good of trashing Israel. After all, Hamas built 300 miles of bomb shelters (aka tunnels) under Gaza only to deny shelter to women and children when the bombs fell. Dead Gazan women and children were far more valuable to their cause than living ones. (A calculation that appears to have paid off: now much of the world -- including NYC progressives -- considers Israel genocidal.) Golda Meir said it best: Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.
Even when I am sympathetic to their goals (for example I think the actions of settlers and enablers in IDF & government are awful), I find most of the pro-Palestinian movement repellent because their actions disregard the impact they have on Palestinians in Gaza or the West Bank. You raise good examples.
The goal is not peace. As you say it’s the destruction of Israel. BDS is coming along nicely, helping Palestinians was never their intention.

BDS targets include arms manufacturers, defense contractors, surveillance technology companies, and military equipment suppliers.
These are harder to frame as "hurting Palestinians."
Don't pretend the Israeli government doesn't take revanche on Palestinian companies.
